The cafe features a convenient counter service system where you can place your order via kiosk or directly with a friendly team member, then find a comfortable seat while your food is freshly prepared and brought to your table. While some find the kiosk ordering a bit overwhelming given the extensive menu, regular guests recommend browsing the online menu beforehand to fully appreciate the diverse offerings.
The menu at Sofrito Latin Cafe is truly a tour of Latin flavors, featuring standout dishes like the crispy, golden Patacon (fried plantain slices), and the richly satisfying Venezolano Pabellon Criollo—a colorful plate brimming with shredded beef, black beans, rice, and sweet plantains that evokes the heart of Venezuelan home cooking. Seafood lovers will relish the Pescado Frito, a whole fried snapper perfectly crispy on the outside while tender and flaky inside. For those who adore grilled meats, the Churrasco Plate and Kids Skirt Steak offer succulent cuts cooked to perfection, accompanied by flavorful sides that celebrate heritage ingredients like fried yuca and rice and beans.
Breakfast enthusiasts will appreciate the Desayuno Criollo, a hearty start showcasing Latin comfort staples, while the sweet-toothed can indulge in tempting desserts such as the creamy Coconut Flan or the unique Guava & Nutella Waffles—an irresistible fusion of flavors that excite the palate.
Beverage options are equally enticing. Specialty coffees like the Peppermint Cafe Con Leche—espresso blended with peppermint syrup, topped with whipped cream and crushed peppermint candy—offer a seasonal twist and highlight the cafe’s attention to comfort and creativity. For those wanting a touch of celebration, the alcohol-to-go cocktails such as the Bloody Maria with its smoky habanero kick, or the refreshing Brazilian Caipirinha, bring an exotic flair perfect for unwinding.
Guests repeatedly praise the quality and authenticity of the meals—Dawn Fitzgerald noted the generous variety with options catering even to vegetarians, while Lenora Johnson raved about the house-made chicken soup, served piping hot and deeply flavorful. Cheryl Garcia described the sensory explosion of smells and tastes as unforgettable, and longtime visitor Fab highlighted the consistent excellence of staples like Peruvian chicken and Cuban shredded pork, both served alongside vibrant, traditional sides.
In essence, Sofrito Latin Cafe is a gem for visitors and locals alike seeking bold, heartfelt Latin American cuisine that delivers both comfort and adventure in every bite. The food was great and there were many options both large and small portions. There are a few vegetarian options. It is a counter service restaurant so you place your order at a kiosk or with a person at the counter. Then you are given a number and you find a table and the food is brought to your table. I always feel a bit frustrated when asked for a tip on a self service kiosk and I have not gotten any service yet. Don't expect a follow-up on drinks or desserts, you have to go back to the counter and order. There is seating inside and on a patio outside. There are large group tables so it would be a good place for a larger group. Oddly, there was a professional photographer going around offering to take photos as well.
Good food. Ordering is a little clumsy. You use a kiosk and it is a large menu so take the time to look at the menu online before you arrive. It makes it less overwhelming and easier to get the exact dish and options you want. Once you are past that, ot is great. Food was very good and worth the price, I will be back!
I was looking for a hot meal at a reasonable price in the vacation capital of Florida! I would say this is a fast casual style restaurant - you order at the counter when you walk in, seat yourself, and they bring you food. I ordered the chicken soup and it was amazing! Seemed to be house made broth, flavorful, good amount of chicken in it. And it was served really really hot! I hate it when I get soup that isn’t quite hot, so I was happy with this one. I think I’m going back today and get it again. They also had empanadas, arepas, and other Latin food that looked good.
Order at the counter, self seating and get ready to have your senses blown away!! The favors and the smells were absolutely amazing! My Uber driver recommended it last year when I was here for a convention, but didn’t have time to go, so made sure I went this time around! So glad we came!
For quite a few years now, when we come to Orlando, we end up having a nice dinner... And sometimes lunch too at this great place. They serve a variety of South American specialties and trust me, they are all good! This time my wife got the Peruvian chicken and I got the Cuban shredded pork. Both entries came with three sides! I got some delicious fried yuka, boiled yuka and fried plantains . The bork was delicious, nicely spiced but not too hot. Both yuka were well cooked and very flavored in their different ways. I should mention that the portions were very generous, so we got quality and quantity. My wife's chicken was very well cooked too and she got yuka too so all was very good. The price was very reasonable and everyone working there was very friendly. A great experience once again, that's why we keep coming back.
The food was ok, I liked the drinks and atmosphere. You pay at counter and they bring your food. They made two errors to our order and the server was rude about it…when our receipt showed what we ordered word for word. 1 thing they didn’t bring the other they made it wrong both easy fixes. A simple sorry and fix it wld have been great but … instead we got the attitude.
Relatively fast service compared to most places. The food was well seasoned and fully cooked. The restaurant takes photos of customers; however, they do not send them digitally to the customer to “protect the privacy of the client” (even if the client gives permission to release their own photos). Therefore, the media aspect was extremely weird. Overall, 4 star experience.
